Leicestershire
County Councillor for Kirby Muxloe & Leicester Forest
East David Parsons made a request to the L.F.E Parish
Councillors at their council meeting on 21st January
2010, to consider the building of a new library on the
Forest East Park, Kings Drive.
Parish Councillors
had previously raised concerns relating to the proposed
library plans for the Holmfield Avenue West site re:
lack of parking , the size of the building and facilities
available.
The Chair of
the Parish Council then read out a statement outligning
the benefits that a library integrated into the proposed
parish hall re-development would bring, a more centralised
position, adequate parking and provision of a focal
point for the parish.
After considering
the matter, the members of the parish council agreed
that they would support County Councillor Parsons request.
Councillor Parsons
also advised that although the planning application
for the Holmfield Avenue West site had been submitted
and approved by Leicestershire County Council it would
held in abeyance..
One major benefit
in providing a new library in the Kings Drive location
is that the current library in Holmfield Avenue West
would have continuation of use while a new facility
is completed, obviously not the case if a replacement
was built on the same site.
Congratulations
to the Parish Council for sticking to their guns, hopefully
we will have a new library and a modern parish hall
sometime soon........... |
