The Red Cow now resembles a fortress after unsightly posts were installed apparently to prevent the theft of motor vehicles.

It now means that vehicles cannot access or leave the larger car park of the pub. Vehicles are already finding this confusing and have to turn around and exit via the hotel entrance.

Personally I find the posts ugly and detract from the pub’s appearance and cannot see how they will reduce thefts. I understand that there has been an increase in the breaking into vehicles but these measures will not deter this sort of crime.

It occurs to me that planning permission may have been required but surprisingly this area falls within the parish of Kirby Muxloe and I will try and find out what the exact situation is.

May be we can expect to see a drawbridge installed soon and exhibitions of jousting put on to complete the scene!
