Leicester Forest East - BREAK IN AT LOCAL POST OFFICE Submitted by Gerry 02 Feb 2008

Sources have revealed that on Wednesday 30th January there was a break in at the Post Office in Holmfield Ave West at around 10pm and that entry was gained by through the staff entrance door.

I do not know whether anything was stolen on that occasion but apparently the following day despite the premises being boarded, up entry was again made, and on this occasion a substantial amount of cash was stolen.

I must stress that this story is so far unsubstantiated (there is damage to the door that was used to gain entry) however, if it true it does make you wonder about the security system and also possible vulnerability to further robberies (maybe next time actually in the Post Office)

No doubt the Police will be appealing for witnesses via the Leicester Mercury in about six months time!

Another opportunity for a greater VISIBLE police presence.(Ed)
