There is an alternative to 0870 phone numbers.
Submitted by Brian 31 Dec 07
For those who didn't already know of it, the
following is a link to a web site that may be of use to the
growing number of people who get free mobile calls to UK landlines.
http://www.saynoto0870.com/
Most of these free call deals are only to standard telephone
numbers (those beginning with 01 or 02), excluding calls to
0800, 0808, 0844, 0845, 0870 and 0871 numbers. This is also
true for those of us with Virgin Landline phones (previously
NTL), and others, on deals which include free calls to other
UK landlines.
A web site which offers an alternative to the 08 organisations
numbers above enabling free calls to be made for most that
fall into the above categories. http://www.saynoto0870.com/
Interestingly, there is an initiative to move all Local GP
numbers into these non-geographic number ranges. Apart from
the cost, this suggests to me that there will be an additional
barrier introduced between you and your Doctor. If you feel
this is a good idea, simply do nothing.
If, like me, you think this could introduce
problems for you, then click this
link to the SAYNOTO0870 site where you can register your
concern. As of this morning, there were 21,796 people who
have already registered.
The closing
date for this registering with the petition is 15-Feb-2008.
Please pass this information on to anyone else you think may
