Two men were arrested in connection with the incident but have
been released without charge.
One neighbour said: "It must have been
around 10am and my dog had been barking non-stop so I went to
investigate.
"I heard what I thought was furniture being chucked into
a van but I did not think anything about it as I knew he was
moving.
"Then when I went out to get my paper later that day the
whole street was taped off and there were police officers swarming
around the property."
Police cordoned off the area around the bungalow including
a section of private road which runs alongside the property.
The victim was said to have suffered swelling and bruises,
including injuries to his face.
Detective Sergeant Alison Pledger said: "Fortunately the
victim's injuries were not serious but this has obviously been
a very traumatic experience."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Sgt Alison
Pledger on 0116 222 2222 or alternatively, Crimestoppers anonymously
