M1 Widening

Statement from Highways Agency Submitted on 23 Dec 2007

The following is a statement Statement from Highways Agency Submitted on 19th Dec 2007 to the Leiecter Forest East Parish Council

In 2007, we carried out a public consultation on two new options to link the M1 at Junction 21 with the M69 in the Leicester Forest East area.

At present, we are working on options that are very similar to those presented at the public exhibition in March 2007 (known as Options 5 and 6; you can see these by visiting www.highways.gov.uk/M1eastmidlands). We have recently been making slight adjustments to Options 5 and 6 to ensure less land is taken by the project.

We are also working with the utility companies to minimise the knock-on effects of the scheme on their plant under the proposed development area. This work will be completed in 2008. Once this work has been completed, we will move onto the next stage of preparing our Preferred Route. This is likely to take place in autumn 2008.

Arup on behalf of the Highways Agency.
